The Catatumbo Coffee Growers’ Cooperative is a cooperative in the department of Norte de Santander boasting 2400 member producers that produce about half of the region’s coffee at an average of 30 million pounds each year. The Cooperative provides members various advantages, including purchase of coffee at price premiums to the market, low-interest credit for farm investments, discounted agricultural raw materials such as fertilizers, as well as offering educational programs and activities, which are available not only to members, but to their families and the broader community.

Cherries are picked ripe, pulped the same day and fermented in tanks until the mucilage breaks down, then washed clean with fresh water. The parchment dries slowly — on raised beds or patios — to 10–11% moisture before it rests and is milled for export.

A washed coffee shows the variety and the farm with nothing in the way: clean, bright and precise in the cup.
